Senator Simon Birmingham was sworn in as Finance Minister

South Australian senator Simon Birmingham has been sworn in as the new Minister of Finance following the resignation of Mathias Cormann.  Birmingham will be instrumental in guiding, planning and implementing the recovery of Australia’s economy.  He will conduct this role alongside his current portfolio of trade, tourism and investment until a cabinet reshuffle (expected to be as early as December).  This is important news for Australians conducting business abroad, with a possible new minister to be appointed in the coming month
